The Westgate Practice - Services
The practice has many exciting and extended services available to patients:
Travel Advice and Immunisations Including Yellow Fever
If you require advice about vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with a practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required. It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with a practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. Vaccinations are recommended for those at occupational risk (e.g. health care workers), for long stays or frequent travel to medium or high risk areas, for those more likely to be exposed such as children and those who may need surgical procedures. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Anti Coagulation (Warfarin) Clinic
These in-house clinics are to monitor and support patients on Warfarin. The clinic takes place at Greenhill Health Centre every Monday & Thursday. It is a simple thumb prick and your Warfarin dose is determined there and then.
Please contact the surgery on 01543 416633 if you would like to be seen at our in-house clinic.
Extended Hours Surgeries
This service may be particularly suitable for those who find it difficult to attend during normal surgery hours. On Mondays and Wednesdays we offer early morning and late evening surgeries at Greenhill Health Centre with members of the medical team.
