Westgate Practice Statement re Covid-19 Vaccination Programme

The Westgate Practice are working in partnership with Langton Medical Practice in order to plan and deliver the Covid-19 vaccination programme. Lichfield Cathedral kindly offered the use of the cathedral as a vaccination site and we are pleased to announce that this has been approved by the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

An initial date of late December 2020 was given to us by National Health Service England (NHSE) for our first delivery of the Pfizer Vaccine, and even though we were ready to get started on the vaccination programme this date was put back by NHSE.

We are now expecting a delivery of the Pfizer Vaccine week commencing 11th January 2021 and are planning to begin the vaccination programme forth with. We will be following the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) guidance with regards to the order in which vaccines are given to different groups in the community and will therefore be offering vaccines first to those at highest risk of catching the disease and of suffering serious complications or dying from Covid-19. Due to the logistical planning needed in transporting and administering the Pfizer vaccine, the AstraZeneca vaccine will be used for our care homes.

Patients will therefore be contacted in order of JCVI advice. Please be patient as we can only deliver the vaccines at the speed at which they are supplied.

Our staff are ready and eager to support the delivery of the vaccinations and will be working additional hours where necessary to deliver these vaccines.

Kind Regards
The Westgate Practice.
